Commencement

The 149th commencement exercises for the 2023-2024 academic year will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the Student Activity Center Arena. Please note that our graduating students should arrive at 7:15 a.m. at Savery Library in proper graduation attire. The traditional photo with the President will be taken at 8:00 a.m.

The Lines of March will start at 8:20 a.m. Faculty will gather in Swayne; the Platform Party in the Ballroom; and the Golden Class in front of the Chapel.

Acclaimed actor and philanthropist Hill Harper will be this year's keynote speaker.

  • Doors open to the Student Activity Center for Ticketed Guests: 6:00 a.m.
  • General Admission: 7:30 a.m.
  • Reserving seats for additional guests in your party is not permitted.
  • The live stream for commencement will start at 8:00 a.m.
  • Once the Lines of March begins, there will be no entry to the Student Activity Center.
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
  • Overflow will be in the Deforest Chapel. Doors of the Chapel open at 7:00 a.m.

Conferment of Degrees

Degrees are conferred at the close of each fall, spring, and summer semester.

Graduation Process

Any additional updates concerning graduation will be provided to your Talladega College email address. If you do not have a Talladega College email or are having issues, please contact the IT department at (256) 761-6598 or (256) 761-6232. You can also submit a ticket by using the help desk at help@talladegacollege.on.spiceworks.com.

Potential graduation candidates must follow the steps below in order to successfully complete the graduation process by the deadlines provided by the Registrar’s Office. Please monitor your Talladega College email for the latest updates from the Registrar’s Office.

  1. Meet with your advisor to complete the curriculum pattern evaluation.
  2. Submit a graduation application, the curriculum pattern evaluation, and a copy of your ID to the Registrar’s office by the deadline (accepted IDs: driver’s license, state ID, and passport).
  3. The Registrar’s Office will provide a graduation audit after the completed graduation application is provided. Please review and address any concerns by the deadline provided in the audit.
  4. Complete your exit counseling with the Financial Aid Office.
  5. Pay the graduation fee and clear any financial obligations with the Business Office.
  6. Submit a completed clearance form to the Registrar’s Office by the graduation deadline.

*Note: Cap and gowns, final transcripts, and diplomas are not released until the graduation clearance form is submitted, and there is a zero balance with the Business Office.
