Job Summary

The Custodial Supervisor is to ensure the maintenance of a clean, safe and attractive environment within the college and to ensure adherence to established federal, state and local sanitary and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate coverage by scheduling of employees to ensure that the college facilities are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
  • Evaluate and observe the quality of work performed in all areas of the College through visual inspections performed daily. Prepares quality assurance reports monthly based on daily observations and reports substandard conditions to the Director of Facilities Management.
  • Train employees in accordance with departmental and College policies and procedures to provide an attractive and safe environment.
  • Ensure an effective staff by interviewing candidates, recommending candidates for hire, preparing and conducting performance evaluations, verbal counseling, and other disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Enhance professional growth, encourage employee group problem solving and development by directing group meetings to address problem situations such as faulty techniques or procedures.
  • Evaluate supplies and equipment to facilitate the purchase of quality products and recommend items for acquisition to the Director of Facilities Management.
  • Work effectively as an individual and with team members.
  • Required to follow job-related instructions and perform other job-related activities as requested by supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent GED required. Some college courses helpful. Custodial experience required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines regarding sanitary and safety procedures normally acquired through previous experience. Effective communication skills in order to facilitate the resolution of problems with employees. Ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Word, and Excel. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Keen eye for detail.
