Dr. Kenyatta Shamburger has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Talladega College. Dr. Shamburger has been serving as Vice President and Chief of Staff. In this new role, he will maintain his Chief of Staff duties as well as continue to serve as liaison and administrative support lead to the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Sama A. Mondeh will remain Senior Vice President for Finance and Facilities, focusing on finance, facilities, and the campus master plan.

“Vice President Shamburger has shown tremendous leadership since joining the executive leadership team in February,” said President Gregory J. Vincent. “His integrity and knowledge of higher education administration have been invaluable and remains important as the College continues its growth.”

“I am excited to be stepping into this expanded leadership role at Talladega College and both humbled and grateful for the trust that the President has placed in me to serve in this important capacity. I believe that my experiences at various higher education institutions offer me a keen perspective that will assist in advancing President Vincent’s strategic vision for the College,” said Shamburger.

Shamburger came to Talladega College after having served as chief of staff at Philander College in Little Rock, AR. Prior to his tenure at Philander, he was Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Multicultural Student Affairs at Iowa State University, Director of Student Life and Planning at Clemson University, and held several student affairs positions at Morehouse College.

In his new role, Shamburger will oversee Accounts Payable, Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology, Title III, and Transportation. Two associate vice president positions will report directly to Shamburger:

  • Mr. Marriel Hardy, Associate Vice President and Chief Communications Officer
  • Ms. Stefanie Player, Associate Vice President for Human Resources
Vincent and Shamburger have goals to strengthen both the Communications and Human Resources functions at the College. “With Mr. Hardy and Ms. Player on the team, we will be able to build the capacity and services of both units to better serve the Talladega College community,” said Shamburger.

Hardy comes to Talladega after serving as Chief of Communications for Coahoma Community College, an HBCU located in the Northwest Mississippi Delta for five years. Before joining the team at Coahoma, he worked at Alcorn State University for eight years in two different communication positions. He brings writing, editing, video production, and management experience to Talladega. Hardy earned a BA degree in Mass Communication and an MS in Workforce Educational Leadership from Alcorn State University. He also earned a marketing certification from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.

Player has more than 20 years of experience in Human Resources for several Alabama companies. In addition to earning a BS in Human Resources and an MS in Management from Faulkner University, she holds certifications in Behavioral Assessment Administration, Interpretation of Action Planning, and the Total Quality Process.
