Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement the Director of Alumni Affairs will develop and manage a comprehensive program of alumni activities and events that will create and retain positive relations with graduating students and alumni to encourage their continued financial support for the institution and active participation in alumni affairs. In addition the Director will be responsible for organizing and directing alumni in all aspects of the Annual fund campaign.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement annual giving and alumni relations programs within the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to secure increased alumni participation in the Annual Fund.
  • Coordinate gift club cultivation/stewardship activities, including regional alumni events.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual phonathon.
  • Plan, manage, direct and evaluate the relationship with Alumni, parents, and other constituencies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to help foster alumni involvement and to advance all fund raising and stewardship visions and goals.
  • Represent the institution on the National Alumni Board.
  • Recruit and train Alumni Association leaders, class volunteers, etc.
  • Organize class reunions, homecomings, and other alumni-related activities with the goal of increasing alumni participation at all events.
  • Meet with student groups to introduce them to alumni Association activities and encourage their participation in alumni events.
  • Ensure that database and alumni records are current; maintain integrity of system and ensure that is being utilized in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Oversee production of annual giving reports; provide analysis of giving trend.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred)
  • Minimum of three years experience in alumni relations and demonstrated track record of fund raising success.
  • Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be capable of working with sensitive information with complete confidentiality
  • Willing to travel
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and available to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
  • Ability to represent the Institutional Advancement department professionally
