Job Summary

To direct, administer and coordinate the transportation department. Reports directly to the Director of Facilities Management.


  • Develops plans for projects within department and assigns personnel to carry out designated duties.
  • Hires, supervises training, reviews and evaluates job performance of department employees.
  • Analyze the college's long-range transportation needs and leads the team in developing a year-by-year program to meet those needs.
  • Prepares regular reports on department's work for various departments on campus.
  • Works with the College's chief financial officer to develop the budget necessary to carry out the department's duties.
  • Keeps current with federal and state transportation regulations.
  • Schedules and assigns trips to department personnel.
  • Oversee utilization of the College's transportation fleet, including its vans and passenger vehicles.
  • Responsible for making sure all mail is picked up from campus mail room and delivered to Talladega City post office and delivery of mail is brought to campus from Talladega City post office.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalence of experience required in civil engineering, traffic engineering, transportation, city, or regional planning.
  • Valid CDL license required.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience with a transportation planning or traffic engineering department with increasing supervisory authority.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs to prepare reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to speak effectively orally and in writing.

The history of Talladega College began on November 20, 1865, when two former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant, both of Talladega, met in convention with a group of new freedmen in Mobile, Alabama.
